Pamelina H. is creating artwork for Sturgis Bike Week apparel. The painting will be on display and for sale during the event. Check back for more details.

This project started with a design created in Photoshop (left).

The artwork was enlarged to 13" x 24" and printed in sections, then transfered to illustration board by applying graphite to the back of the paper. The illustration was drawn on cold press using graphite and Prismacolor pencils (below left).

Workable fixative was applied to the drawing so work could be done on the tattoo artwork while preserving the work already done.

Tracing paper was placed over the artwork. The tattoo design work was designed on the tracing paper, then transferred to the illustration board. The tattoos were drawn using graphite. (below right)

Workable fixtive was applied again to protect it before applying frisket paper for the airbrushing step.

The skin tones were airbrushed with gray (left), giving a softer overall look. Details were added using shades of gray mixed with ivory black, unbleached titanium and titanium white (above right).

The goal is to make this look like a hand-painted photograph so everything is painted in shades of gray, then transparent colors will be laid on top. The color tones will be a transparent mixture of raw sienna and burnt umber.
