After working on the sketch on paper and computer, the final sketch is drawn on tracing paper.
Graphite is rubbed on the back of the tracing paper for transferring to an illustration board. Periodically, pencil is used directly to darken the sketch.
The darkest areas are blocked in with a wash of dark umber acrylic. The wall is painted with umber, sienna and yellow ochre.
The wall shadows are airbrushed with black acrylic and small details are painted in.
The sky is airbrushed using several glazed layers of acrylic paint.
The wall and sky have been completed and detailing begins on the foreground.
All that remains to paint are the vase details and the cats.
